In the heart of old Southport and
overlooking the Cape Fear River, this Inn is owned and operated
by fourth generation direct descendants of the builder. The
house, built in 1891, was faithfully and beautifully restored in
1995 and furnished with traditional period furniture and
accessories. Many of the pieces are family heirlooms. Guests may
enjoy the breezes from first and second story porches as well as
a view of miles of river scenery.
Each morning, a full gourmet
breakfast is served in the dining room. Custard Baked French
Toast, homemade waffles or sausage and egg souffle are just a
few of the delicious entrees that are served. The menu changes
daily, but always includes fruit, fresh baked muffins, bread and
pastries.
It's an easy stroll up and down
the Southport River Walk, as well as to numerous antique shops,
restaurants, historic interest points, the Maritime Museum, the
public library, and other interesting locations. Guests may
relax after sightseeing and shopping on the porches or in the
beautiful library or parlor, and enjoy the gentle ambience of
this family home. Lois Jane's Riverview Inn offers the best of
modern amenities, old Southern hospitality, and Southport
tradition.
