The famed Outer Banks beaches are a mere 45-minute drive from Elizabeth City. From Corolla to Ocracoke, there are miles and miles of charming villages, world-class shopping, and wide, sandy beaches. Worth a visit is the Wright Brothers monument in Kill Devil Hills, the huge Jockey's Ridge sand dune in Nags Head, and the Cape Hatteras lighthouse in Buxton, on Hatteras Island. North Carolina has a free ferry system and one of these ferries transports visitors from Hatteras Village to the charming island of Ocracoke.

offering guests a chance to stay in an authentic colonial-era house with the added benefit of twenty-first century luxuries. The owners have strived to maintain the charm and colonial character of the house. 

Breakfast is served in the elegant dining room, with wainscoting, a crystal chandelier, and fireplace. Each day, breakfast is served with Waterford crystal, china, sterling silver, and linens.
