Ocracoke Island, accessible only by water or air, is part of
Hyde County.
It is one of the barrier islands of the Outer Banks
of North Carolina where
the pirate Blackbeard is known to have
once roamed.
Spend hours
exploring Ocracoke's Cape Hatteras National Seashore,
Dr.
Beach's #6 beach pick for the United States in 2002, take a
kayak
ecotour, go fishing in the Gulf stream, or explore the
village and its many
shops on one of our bikes. Have dinner at
one of the island's fine restaurants.
Enjoy the scenic view of Pamlico
Sound, the 1823 Lighthouse, Historic
Portsmouth Island or the
beautiful sunsets over the water from your private
balcony.
